*******FINAL EXAM FOR GENETICS **NEXT TUESDAY, DEC. 20th**

Have your child study all notes, work, and chapter 6 & 7, and the standards and terms BELOW:

• I know sexual reproduction requires two sets of DNA.
• I know that sex cells are formed through the process of meiosis.
• I know that sexual reproduction produces offspring with half their genes from each parent.
• I know that each plant or animal cell has many thousands of different genes.
 • I know that there are typically two of each type of gene called alleles.
• I know that the two alleles may not be identical.
• I know that a phenotype is an organism’s appearance.
 • If the alleles are not identical one may be dominant and will be the trait that develops.
• The other may be recessive and the trait will not develop.
•I know that each cell contains DNA.
• I know that DNA determines what traits are passed on from generation to generation.
• I know that DNA is contained in the genes.
• I know that the genes are part of the chromosomes of each cell.
• I know that the chromosomes are chains of genes in the nucleus.
