?? Science Journal in the backpack? Green science workbook in the backpack?

>> Please have your child read over ** chapter 6 **

>>HOMEWORK THIS WEEK - FINGERPRINT LAB -- ON WEDNESDAY -- DUE FRIDAY!
here is the worksheet:

We are starting the GENETICS AND HEREDITY unit. The final assessment will be on Dec. 20. This is a more challenging unit, so please make sure your child is studying and staying on top of things!

Update - Nov. 18 - Thanksgiving Break!

Hi,
Have a great, restful week off!

>> NEXT UNIT in SCIENCE: Genetics and Heredity  (Chapter 6 and 7 in textbook)

This is a short, but challenging unit - 3 1/2 weeks long - so please have your child read through the chapters and get a head start on it!

**The Genetics Final Assessment is Tuesday, Dec. 20th!

Here are the state standards for this unit -- you may want to help your child go through any new vocabulary listed below:

Genetics
2. A typical cell of any organism contains genetic instructions that specify its traits. Those traits may be modified by environmental influences.
As a basis for understanding this concept, students know:
a. the differences between the life cycles and reproduction of sexual and asexual organisms.
b. sexual reproduction produces offspring that inherit half their genes from each parent.
c. an inherited trait can be determined by one or more genes.
d. plant and animal cells contain many thousands of different genes, and typically have two copies of every gene. The two copies (or alleles) of the gene may or may not be identical, and one may be dominant in determining the phenotype while the other is recessive.
e. DNA is the genetic material of living organisms, and is located in the chromosomes of each cell.

Thanks for all of your help at home, each and every day,
Mr. Sandoval
