INVENTION CONVENTION

INVENTION CONVENTION

OBJECTIVE:     To identify a “problem” or need, and design and propose an original invention!

**THIS YEAR’S THEME: ECO-FRIENDLY INVENTIONS**

Questions to think about:
How could we:    Use less resources?
            Use less electricity/ energy?
            Conserve/ save resources and energy
            Reduce waste?
            Recycle waste/ resources?
            Reuse waste/ resources?
            Use human power for something?
            Use alternative energy: SOLAR, WIND, WATER, etc.



→ REQUIREMENTS: What you need to TURN IN:

_________1. One page (max) type-written report (double spaced)

    What is a problem/ need that you have identified? Why is this problem             important to solve or useful?

    Explain the invention that you have come up with:
        What would it do?
        What would it look like?
        What materials do you need to make it?
        How would it work?

_______2. Visual representation/ diagram/ picture of your invention
            
            _____ Poster, board or REAL model (or Power Point presentation)

            _____ Title, name, labels, instructions, colors

_______3. Presentation of invention – SHORT explanation of your project

***EXAM THURSDAY - EARTH AND LIFE HISTORY - CHAPTER 8/9***
Students will be taking a "final" standards based assessment. Please have your child review those chapters.

**** "KNOW BOOKS" DUE THURSDAY***
Students have been working on a journal of information from the last 4 weeks or so - called a "know" book. This is a major grade. Please have your child show this to you and make sure that it is NEAT, COMPLETE, COLORED(?) and in order.

***INVENTION CONVENTION project***
Students will be starting a project where they design an original invention. This will be explained more later in the week. Please have them start thinking of ideas/ researching ideas:
The THEMES are CONSERVATION, ENERGY, & RECYCLING.
